Dr. Bagus Riyono, M.A., Psychologist is a lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology UGM, who since 2016 has served as president of the International Association of Muslim Psychologists (IAMP). Dr. Bagus earned his doctorate with a study on motivation theory at the Faculty of Psychology UGM, while his master's degree was obtained at Hofstra University New York, USA, with a Fullbright scholarship, in the field of industrial and organizational psychology.

In 1996, Dr. Bagus is one of nine people who founded the Insan Kamil Foundation which aims to develop Islamic psychology. "Principles of Islamic Psychology" (1998, Journal of Psychology, UII), was the first article by Dr. Bagus, in the realm of Islamic psychology.

In the Indonesian Islamic Psychological Association (API), Dr. Bagus is active as a board member and his last position is a member of the expert council. In early 2016, Dr. Bagus was elected chairman of the presidium of the Gerakan Indonesia Beradab (GIB) by a group of activists from various fields of science. The focus of GIB is building a civilization that glorifies human dignity through strengthening the family.

As president of the International Association of Muslim Psychologists (IAMP), Dr. Bagus has been invited as a keynote person on Islamic psychology conferences in Moscow, Russia, India, Pakistan and Australia. In 2023, IAMP collaborated with the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) to establish a doctoral program based on the scientific discipline of Islamic psychology.

Since student, Dr. Bagus has become an activist, both in campus and in society. While become student, Dr. Bagus is chairman of the UGM Psychology student senate and leads the publication of the Psychomedia magazine. Besides that, Dr. Bagus is also an awardee of an international AFS scholarship to Japan and is an active member of the organization until 2019.

Currently Dr. Bagus lives in Yogyakarta with his wife, Dr. Phil. Emi Zulaifah, M.Sc., and was blessed with five children.
